CSI Stunt Clinic

We had the opportunity to attend a stunt clinic held by the CSI Cheer Squad. It was an awesome experience and we learned a lot of new techniques and material. One of the things that were really cool...were a lot of girls got to fly that may have not gotten to so far and they got to fly on bases from other schools....and bases got to fly girls from other schools as well....and CSI girls and guys based our girls and their girls flew on our girls. It was really neat to see how versatile everyone really could be!

Practice Tuesday 10-14

So I'm trying to post from past to most recent, but I had to post this blog real quick! I am so proud of all of you for our practice on Tuesday. It was an awesome practice....Livvy's group got a Lib, Brenda's group got a lib....and twist cradle, Shayla's group got a bottle rocket back up to lib-arabesque....it was such a great day. This squad is going to take it to the top and I'm proud to be a part of it! We also conditioned and I know ALL of you absolutely LOVED it......oh one more thing Shayla did a back handspring on the wedge mat all by herself! Go Bruins!

Working at the Car Wash!

One thing that cheerleading always brings is fundraising! We all love it because it cuts down our costs and gives us more time to spend with each other....always a plus! So we were able to finally hold a car wash and it turned out pretty good....we held it at the Alltel on Blue Lakes and Heyburn and we had a really good turn out. From 9-3 we worked our little tails off and washed plenty of cars and then we had a great retreat afterwards at Lacey's house. Her parents let us come over and swim in their pool and we were soooo thankful for that refreshing dip! So here are some pictures of the girls at the Car Wash!

End of Summer

So it all finally came to an end....the long practices.....the hot days.....and that one thing that was all creeping up..........the StARt OF SCHOOL! It was an awesome summer with so much going on. When August came we went down to 2 day practices-instead of 3, and he weeks flew by so fast. Since it was getting closer to school we started practicing on game day situations and how to get our "lovely" crowd involved. On one of our last practices we asked the parents to come and see what we were doing all summer long! We showed off our cheering skills, crowd involvement, and always stunting! I don't have the film of the cheering, but I do have the stunting that we went over!

This is what I like to call the Switch Hitch. We got this stunt ready for our first assembly. I was so happy that the girls got it soooo incredibly fast. It is not too hard of a stunt, but it looks awesome huh?

This one is called the A pyramid....and even though we taught this one pretty early in the summer we barely added the Liberty in the middle because Shayla was able to get it....but unfortunately at this point in time she wasn't too confident in the stunt and didn't stick it even though she had it! I'm glad she doesn't do this anymore!!! Love you Shayla!

This video is just us doing Xtensions...all but one went up and that is pretty dang good! I'm so proud of all of you for how hard you worked this summer! I know it seems like that we work you till the ground sometimes, but it will all pay off in the end....trust us!!

NCA Cheer Camp @ ISU

We had such a blast at Cheer camp this year! It was a great time for us to bond and progress as individuals and as a squad. We went to camp this year on July 29th at the ISU Campus in Pocatello. We stayed in the dorms which was a little eye opening for the girls to see what dorm life would be like, but we had a lot of fun in the making!

This was our first day and what a great day it was. They learned a few chants, a cheer, their spirit dance, and last but not least STUNTING! We were grouped up with our NCA buddies as well! Junior Varsity with Wes and Varsity with Katie....we loved the NCA Staff and everything they did for us. Later that night we had a special bonding night which we all shared something sentimental and it was a very emotional, but very special night for everyone!

2ND DAY

On our second day was very jam-packed and full of learning, laughing, and working hard. We reviewed what we learned the previous day and then more material was taught and we went through our first camp evaluation. Each squad performed a chant and cheer in front of their buddy and then was evaluated by their NCA Buddy. JV got a red ribbon for excellent and Varsity got a blue ribbon for superior. Both squads did a great job for their first time being evaluation as a squad. Today we worked on more stunts and then broke off into groups as some went to learn the advance dance and others learned the pom dance. It was a great day and lots of learning!

3RD DAY

The 3rd day was fun day and we showed off our spirit by wearing pink camo! It was fun to see the girls all in pink! It was a long day...and we could tell everyone was feeling it! Lots of learning...the hot sun.....and some were getting tired, frustrated, all the above, but we were able to work it out and pull out or BRUIN power and keep on going! This day was full of more learning, reviewing, and we also had all star try-outs! This is kind of a unique opportunity that the NCA Staff will watch the kids as the week goes by and nominate those who have excelled in certain areas such as.....stunting, jumps, and motions. We had 11 girls nominated and 9 girls tried-out and we had 4 girls make it! We were so proud of all of them for doing their best! Today we also worked on pyramids as a squad and learned the funk dance! It was a good day!

4TH DAY

Finally it was here the last and final day of camp. We had our review and then camp evaluations and then went right into our camp champion. It sort of a little competition between the entire camp to see who has worked hard and performed what NCA taught correctly. After we went into the award ceremony and that was the end of our week at camp! The Bruin Cheer Squad did an excellent job this year and won lots of awards! Varsity took first in Camp Chant and JV took first in Game Day. Both squads recieved superior blue ribbons for their morning evaluations and JV received the SPOT award for safety in stunting and Varsity received a technical excellence award for motions. Both squads received a spirit stick and Kelsie Fairbanks, Melissa, Arika, and Lacey all got All-American. It was a great camp and we are so proud of everything they did! We learned a lot of great new things and couldn't wait to put it all to use when we got home!

Summer Practices

This is where it all began! We worked so hard this summer and got A LOT accomplished! Here are some of our first attempts at some of our stunts! We were working on twist cradles! Enjoy:

Here is Miss Shayla who is one awesome flyer! She twists a little in slow motion but gets the job done!

Next we have Brenda and what a trooper.....not quite this time, but they finally got it down by the end of the summer! This stunt group has done an amazing job throughout the summer and have gotten a lot done!

Livvy's group have worked so well together and they look so good whenever they do a stunt!

This was Lily's first time flying and their group did a great job this summer!
